About
I am a first generation immigrant from Austria. I moved to the US on my own in search of the Great American Adventure. I used to be a horse trainer and British Dressage Instructor and Judge, before joining the US Air Force to become a flight medic.
I then got recruited to the University of California David Geffen School of Medicine on a Leaders of Tomorrow scholarship, where I started to become interested in improving access to care for underserved and rural populations and using research in clinical practice.
I am currently an internal medicine physician on the East Coast with plans to continue my training in Medical Genetics and Preventive Medicine. I am a fan of experimental medicine (someone has to go first!) and doing rather than talking about things.
I do not practice traditional paternalistic medicine, instead, I see myself as a health consultant who supports the goals of my patients.
I am also not a fan of the traditional academic publishing complex, which often falls prey to nepotism, majority votes and comfort, rather than allowing for research that may not fit the traditional grain but could propel innovation and discovery forward.
Outside of work, I enjoy functional fitness after getting injured at CrossFit like so many of us, trail running and hiking in the mountains, kayaking and dog walking. I eat whole, unprocessed foods with an emphasis on high protein and constantly look for ways to reduce environmental toxins in my household, diet and personal care. I also enjoy playing around with nootropics and biohacking, send me your tips and tricks!
